Are you excited about your upcoming sojourn at our surf and yoga retreat near Galle? Here is a helpful guide from Nirbana to help you pack for a great retreat experience.
Sunny Sri Lanka requires you to pack light, breathable clothing. Apart from your yoga clothes, swimsuits and favourite toiletries, there are some essentials you should bring to enjoy a hassle-free holiday.
This is an obvious one. But, sunscreen is essential to protect your skin from the sun’s harshest rays. In Sri Lanka, supermarkets and pharmacies stock sunscreen. But, you may not be able to find your preferred brand. Pack enough sunscreen and a little extra for those hours in the sun. You can be an eco-champion if you choose a brand that does not harm delicate coral life.
Aloe vera gel is one of nature’s best gifts to heal sunburnt skin. It also works wonders for rashes and keeps your skin hydrated.
A yoga strap helps you keep your yoga mat in place. You can go for a strap with the sling option to carry around your mat with ease. You can use the yoga strap to help you out with difficult poses as well. Even if you are a pro, a yoga strap can help you out with proper alignment, especially when you are learning intensive poses with guidance from an experienced teacher.
Get a sturdy yet lightweight bag to dump all sorts of odds and ends; you’ll need to take to the beach. The bag should be big enough to pack your reusable water bottle, beach blanket, sunscreen and some snacks. But make sure that bit is not too bulky or heavy. Go green and buy yourself a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated.
A rash guard will protect your skin but also prevent rashes on your arms, legs and stomach from contact with the surfboard. And if you are a woman, a rash guard will keep your bikini in place when you surf.
At Nirbana, we provide a flexible environment for guests to enjoy surfing and practice yoga at their own pace.
